Job Details We are seeking a senior environmental attorney to join a nationally recognized legal practice handling complex regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters. This role is designed for an experienced practitioner who can serve as a strategic advisor to clients, manage sophisticated matters independently, and contribute to the continued growth of a well-established practice. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience advising clients on a broad range of environmental issues, including regulatory compliance, transactions, permitting, enforcement matters, and risk management. While an existing client base is welcomed, it is not required. We are primarily seeking a lawyer with the depth of experience and judgment to step into a significant client-facing role and manage substantial legal work from day one. Responsibilities Advise clients on environmental regulatory and compliance matters Counsel clients regarding environmental risks associated with business operations, transactions, and development activities Handle interactions with governmental and regulatory agencies Support corporate, finance, real estate, and transactional teams on environmental issues Conduct environmental due diligence and risk assessments Assist with permitting, remediation, enforcement, and compliance matters Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on complex environmental issues Manage matters independently while collaborating across practice groups when needed Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to practice development initiatives Participate in client relationship management and business development efforts Qualifications Significant experience practicing environmental law within a law firm, government, or sophisticated in-house environment Strong knowledge of environmental statutes, regulations, and regulatory frameworks Experience advising clients on environmental compliance, transactional matters, and risk management Ability to independently manage complex legal matters and client relationships Strong drafting, negotiation, research, and analytical skills Demonstrated business judgment and practical problem-solving abilities Experience working directly with clients, executives, and other stakeholders Prior experience mentoring junior attorneys is preferred Portable business is welcomed but not required Requirements Licensed attorney in Massachusetts Approximately 8+ years of relevant environmental law experience Ability to handle sophisticated matters with limited supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong client service orientation Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced practice Collaborative approach to working with attorneys across multiple disciplines Commitment to delivering high-quality legal work and strategic client counsel Interested in hearing more?
