The firm has particular expertise representing Taft-Hartley multiemployer benefit plans and advises clients on a broad range of complex employee benefits, compliance and regulatory matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys substantive ERISA counseling, client interaction and regulatory analysis and wants to work alongside experienced employee benefits attorneys in a specialized practice. Responsibilities: Advise employee benefit plans regarding compliance with ERISA and other applicable laws and regulations Analyze complex employee benefits issues and provide practical legal guidance Assist clients with plan compliance and governance matters Draft and review plan documents, amendments, policies and related materials Research and analyze federal laws, regulations and agency guidance Assist clients in navigating interactions with governmental agencies Advise trustees, plan fiduciaries and other client representatives Manage client matters with increasing levels of independence Communicate directly with clients and participate in client/board meetings Collaborate with attorneys across multiple client teams Assist with a broad range of retirement, healthcare and other employee benefit issues Travel periodically for board and client meetings as needed Qualifications: Demonstrated experience handling employee benefit plan issues under ERISA Private-practice experience preferred Strong legal research, writing and analytical abilities Strong academic background Excellent communication and client-management skills Ability to manage matters independently while working collaboratively D.C.
