Position Summary: We are seeking a results-driven, customer-focused, and technically proficient Technical Sales Manager to lead the identification, development, and execution of sales opportunities within our growing Managed Services organization. This highly visible position requires a hands-on professional who can quickly integrate into our operations, build trusted relationships with clients and internal teams, and independently manage opportunities from discovery through invoicing.


The Technical Sales Manager will work closely with Technical Account Managers (TAMs) and internal stakeholders to identify client needs, prepare proposals and quotes with selected technical solutions, and drive opportunities to successful completion. This individual will serve as a key liaison between clients, technical teams, vendors, and accounting to ensure projects are accurately scoped, properly documented, successfully delivered, and billed in a timely manner.


The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical foundation, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This role requires someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes ownership of the sales process, and contributes to the continued growth and success of the organization through outstanding client service and operational excellence.


Sales Process & Proposal Management

  • Manage the full sales lifecycle from qualified opportunity through signed agreement - including scoping, quoting, proposal delivery, follow-up, and close.
  • Receive and act on client needs surfaced by Technical Account Managers; collaborate with TAMs to ensure proposals accurately reflect client requirements.
  • Build professional, accurate quotes in QuoteWerks, Quosal, ConnectWise CPQ or equivalent, incorporating input from technical staff and vendor pricing.
  • Maintain a well-organized pipeline and ensure timely follow-through on all open opportunities.
  • Serve as a responsive, professional point of contact for clients during the sales process.


Billing & Revenue Operations

  • Own the billing function end-to-end, ensuring all delivered services and closed deals are accurately invoiced in QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile quotes and agreements against completed work to produce clean, accurate invoices.
  • Manage recurring billing schedules, tracking contract terms, renewals, and any mid-cycle changes.
  • Identify and resolve billing discrepancies in coordination with technical and leadership teams.
  • Maintain organized records of client agreements, purchase orders, and billing history.


Process Ownership & Improvement

  • Take ownership of the quote-to-invoice workflow and continuously improve it for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Build and document repeatable processes and templates to support consistency as the team grows.
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current sales and billing operations and drive solutions.
  • Ensure QuoteWerks and QuickBooks data stays clean, current, and reliable.


Collaboration & Client Relationships

  • Work closely with Technical Account Managers as a key partner in the client lifecycle - TAMs bring the technical insight, you bring the process and follow-through.
  • Support client retention by ensuring billing accuracy and a smooth, professional experience throughout the sales process.
  • Participate in internal planning discussions around pricing, packaging, and service offerings.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.


Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a sales operations, technical sales, or account management role, ideally within IT services or a technology environment.
  • Sufficient technical understanding of managed services offerings to communicate clearly with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with quoting tools; QuoteWerks, Quosal, ConnectWise CPQ or equivalent proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks or a comparable billing/accounting platform.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in or alongside an MSP or IT services company.
  • Familiarity with PSA or RMM platforms commonly used in managed services environments.
  • Experience working with a small, collaborative team.
  • Understanding of recurring revenue models, service contracts, and managed services pricing structures.
