Controls Engineer PLC / Automation Engineer



Salary $90,000 $120,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits + Paid Relocation Package



Major global manufacturer is looking for a hands-on Controls Engineer for their Southern manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on engineering position working with PLCs, automation, equipment troubleshooting and manufacturing improvement projects.



This is not just a PLC programming job. You will work directly with Production and Maintenance troubleshooting equipment, improving existing machinery and implementing new automation. You will also be involved with equipment installations, project costs and schedules, vendors and contractors.



Looking for an engineer who is comfortable spending time on the manufacturing floor and solving problems. Someone who can wear several hats and work with both the technical side of the equipment and the people operating and maintaining it.



Responsibilities for this Control Engineer include:


Program, modify and troubleshoot PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.


Troubleshoot machine controls and processes to improve productivity, quality and equipment reliability.


Work with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell and Mitsubishi PLC platforms.


Troubleshoot electrical and electronic controls as well as mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.


Develop and implement controls and automation improvements.


Work on new equipment installations and modifications to existing equipment.


Develop project schedules, budgets and cost estimates.


Work with equipment vendors, contractors and suppliers.


Train and support Production and Maintenance personnel.


Work with Engineering, Production, Maintenance and Quality on plant problems and improvements.



Minimum requirements for this Control Engineer:


Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.


Hands-on experience with PLCs, industrial automation and control systems at least 6 months


Manufacturing or industrial experience.


Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.


Ability to work directly with Production and Maintenance on the plant floor.


Some travel may be required for technical training, including possible international travel.
