Job Description

Serve as the Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems technical specialist. Serve as a plant liaison on Static Equipment and Mechanical System engineering issues (not limited to risk engineering, system integrity and applicability to specifications, philosophies and standards). Provide technical support to other groups, by understanding and interpreting codes, standards and regulations that are equipment related. Coordinate and develop proposals for plant improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates and budgets for capital projects. Provide technical guidance during development and construction, support the Project Manager as assigned to minimize overruns in project-related spending. Develop cost effective solutions for Static Equipment and Mechanical engineering issues. Provide guidance and development of documentation standards including updates to the unit operating manuals. Provide assistance to maintenance and operations groups on reliability issues when they occur; must be able to have vision and ability to create quality solutions for any problems. Develop working relationships with other department personnel within the plant in order to seek out opportunities that will add value to each job completed. Reinforce awareness of safety and environmental incidents through frequent job observations. Ensure the preparation and gathering of information in support of permit requirements as assigned. Develop equipment spare parts requirements as needed. Candidate must be physically able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladders up to forty feet or more in height, and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds. Full time employment, Monday Friday, 40 hours per week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in an industrial setting in engineering or operations. Must have 10 years of experience in each of the following: Implementing Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems in industrial facilities; Applying Mechanical Engineering codes, standards and regulations; Designing and engineering static equipment for applications in oil refining, petrochemical, specialty chemicals, hydrocarbon pipeline, or LNG processing, storage, and transportation facilities; Providing project development and engineering technical support through a stage gated process to advance opportunities from feasibility assessment to detailed design, implementation, and commissioning; Reviewing technical details of company specifications and reviewing possible specification deviations for acceptance in project designs; Identifying and managing risks arising from the implementation of brownfield projects utilizing the Management of Change (MOC) process; and Communicating project updates and related issues at all levels of an organization and groups from different disciplines.
