The Commercial Preventative Maintenance (PM) HVAC Technician is responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. This role helps ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while identifying potential issues before they become major repairs. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

Inspect rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, package units, heat pumps, exhaust fans, make-up air units, and other HVAC equipment.

Replace filters, belts, lubricate bearings, clean coils, inspect electrical components, and perform other routine maintenance tasks.

Measure and record operating conditions, including temperatures, pressures, amperage, voltage, airflow, and refrigerant performance.

Identify worn or failing components and recommend repairs or replacement.

Perform minor repairs during maintenance visits when appropriate.

Complete detailed service reports and document equipment conditions using mobile service software.

Communicate maintenance findings and recommendations clearly with customers and management.

Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized manner.

Follow all OSHA safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.

Respond to occasional emergency service calls as assigned.

Maintain a professional appearance and provide exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Technical school or HVAC certification preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience preferred.

EPA Section 608 Certification required.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals.

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Familiarity with tablets or mobile field service software.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and controls.

Understanding of refrigeration principles and electrical systems.

Ability to safely use HVAC tools, gauges, meters, and testing equipment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple service calls efficiently.

Physical Requirements

Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance.

Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops, and access mechanical rooms.

Ability to bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces.

Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and temperatures.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Preferred Certifications
