Athlete Development & Coaching

• Swimmer recruitment at all levels.

• Plan and deliver challenging structured, daily practices for Silver and Gold groups.

• Supervise and coordinate practices for our Bronze, Blue, and Pre-comp groups with the Assistant Coach

• Design seasonal training plans, dryland programming, and age-appropriate progressions aligned with USA

Swimming's American Development Model

• Provide individualized stroke, start, and turn instruction and regular technical feedback to every swimmer

• Conduct individual athlete check-ins each season; hold at least one meeting per season with each swimmer and

their family to review goals and progress

• Foster a positive, disciplined environment free of favoritism where all athletes feel valued and motivated

• Develop a multi-year athlete progression curriculum that supports long-term athletic development

Staff Leadership & Program Management

• Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches; share practice plans and collaborate regularly

• Ensure consistent coaching standards and communication across all practice groups

• Coordinate meet schedules, entries (via GoMotion/TeamUnify), staffing, and team travel logistics

• Create meet sanctions for (2) annual WWSC hosted meets and assist with recruiting required meet staff

• Familiarity with swim meet management software; Hy-Tek, Swimcloud, etc.

• Maintain a visible and engaged leadership presence; Leadership roles within our LSC are encouraged.

• Prepare and present regular coaching updates to the WWSC Board of Directors

• Collaborate with the Board on strategic planning, team operations, fundraising, and program growth

• Coordinate annual participation in the Washington Open for qualified swimmers.


Community & Parent Engagement

• Build an approachable, open-door relationship with parents and families; communicate proactively and

professionally

• Promote WWSC and grow participation within the Walla Walla community and surrounding region

• Build positive working relationships with local schools, aquatic facilities, and city organizations

• Support a healthy balance between athletics, academics, and personal development for all athletes

• Mentor older athletes in developing leadership skills and provide on-deck coaching experience opportunities

Safe Sport & Compliance

• Maintain all required USA Swimming coach membership certifications at all times - no grace periods

• Enforce WWSC Safe Sport policies including the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy, Anti-Bullying, and all

Codes of Conduct

• Model professionalism, integrity, and respectful behavior in all interactions with athletes, parents, and officials

• Ensure all athletes and coaches are registered with USA Swimming and the IES LSC prior to competition
