Job Summary and Qualifications

The Night Shift Coordinator serves as the designated respiratory therapy leadership resource for the night shift. The coordinator is responsible for providing operational oversight, supporting clinical staff, maintaining compliance with department and hospital policies, and ensuring effective communication between night shift, day shift leadership, and department management.

The Night Shift Coordinator functions in a supervisory capacity during assigned night shifts and is responsible for ensuring that respiratory therapy operations remain organized, adequately staffed, properly supplied, and compliant with established protocols and procedures.

What will you do in this role:

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight to Respiratory Therapy staff during the night shift.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and assist with assignment distribution based on patient acuity and department needs.
  • Monitor department operations and address staffing, workflow, and patient-care concerns as they arise.
  • Serve as the secondary point of contact for respiratory therapy staff during the night shift. (lead/charge therapist will be the primary point of contact for minor concerns)
  • Support staff in maintaining clinical and bedside competencies.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and effective communication throughout the shift.

    What qualifications you will need:

    • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
    • (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
    • Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree
    • 5 years experience as a RRT
