Position Summary


We are seeking Fitter/Welders to join our team in the West Jordan, Utah Fabrication Shop. In this role, you will work layout, fit, and fabricate structural and miscellaneous steel members in accordance with drawings, job specifications, applicable code requirements, and company expectations. This is a vital role and as such requires a high degree of punctuality and attendance, professionalism, and adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain Punctual attendance, consistently meet performance expectations, and demonstrate professional conduct.
  • Consistently use required PPE and follow safety practices according to company policy and industry standard. Recognize and address safety hazards in all process applications. Report all safety hazards to the supervisor or management immediately.
  • Use personal and company equipment safely, and inspect and resolve or report equipment issues as they occur. Be organized, coordinated, and maintain a reasonably clean work area.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings & specifications.
  • Study and apply job specifications, company standards, and code standards as required with minimal assistance.
  • Measure, layout, cut, assemble, secure, and weld as needed and allocate time saving tasks to other employees aiding in fabrication. Accurately straighten and camber with heat.
  • Inspect work and assure shop quality requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Move structural elements by hand and machine through the use of chain rigging, overhead/jib crane, material conveyor, or transfer stations and other material handling equipment.
  • Work well with others and know the location of people and equipment in the surrounding area. Confront personnel and work issues in a professional manner.
  • Support and contribute to ongoing process improvement, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate a willingness to learn and teach.


Qualifications


Required:

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. and provide documentation upon hire.
  • Able to read shop drawings, and fit and assemble materials as specified.
  • Experienced with Flux-Cored (FCAW), Metal-Cored (MCAW), Gas-Shielded Metal Cored (GMAW-C) Welding processes. Must be able to pass a weld test (administered as part of the interview process).
  • Able to physically perform task requirements including lifting 65 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work extended hours.
  • Able to consistently arrive ready to work at the start of scheduled shift and work entire shift. Standard Schedules: Day Shift: 5am-3:30pm, Night Shift: 4pm-2:30am. Overtime schedules available including longer shifts and weekends, Schedules may be adjusted to meet production needs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship.


Preferred:

  • Experience with structural steel projects including buildings, industrial structures, and bridges
  • AWS Certified Welder
