Job Description

Location: 189 S. Orange Avenue, Suite 1700, Orlando, FL 32801 Position Title: Urban Designer Job Description: Develop conceptual urban framework plans, master plans, design guidelines and reports and presentations. Design, promote, or administer government plans or policies affecting land use, zoning, public utilities, community facilities, housing, or transportation. Promote innovative thinking and new design approaches. Work in a multi-disciplinary environment and directly with project clients. Conduct field investigations, surveys, impact studies, or other research to compile and analyze data on economic, social, regulatory, or physical factors affecting land use. Develop conceptual urban framework plans, master plans, design guidelines and reports and presentations. Assess the feasibility of land use proposals and identify necessary changes. Conduct community outreach, design charrettes, stakeholder interviews and other information gathering meetings. Work towards sustainable site design and Green-build principles. Advise planning officials on project feasibility, cost-effectiveness, regulatory conformance, or possible alternatives. Telecommuting permitted one day per week. Job Requirements: Requires a Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning or a directly related field plus ten (10) years of experience in architecture or urban design studio. Experience must include: Six (6) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Rendering and visualization tools, including Enscape, D5, Lumion Working knowledge of zoning codes, land development regulations, and planning approval processes. Evaluating land use proposals for regulatory compliance and development feasibility Ten (10) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Graphic design skills (hand drawn and computer based). AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-up, Rhino, and Autodesk Forma. Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. LEED-ND principals, Transit Oriented Developments, Grayfields, Borwnfields, waterfront development and New Urbanist communities. Working on a full range of project phases, including concept development, schematic design, design development, documentation, and construction administration. Producing urban design deliverables such as master plans, urban frameworks, design guidelines, site plans, and feasibility studies. Preparing professional-quality digital and graphic presentations suitable for client, public, and agency review Generating high-level urban design concepts and schemes, from initial conceptual genesis through refinement. Hand sketching, including: o Manual sketching o Digital sketching (e.g., Procreate or equivalent tools) Creating 3D urban models and massing studies for planning and design evaluation.
