CMT is a regional leader in manufacturing high-quality trusses for agricultural, residential, and commercial buildings. We focus on precision, reliability, and strong customer relationships, and we're adding an experienced Truss Designer to our team.

Position Summary

The Truss Designer produces accurate, production-ready roof and floor truss designs and layouts using Eagle TrueBuild (preferred) or similar software. This is a hands-on design role with no direct management responsibilities, working closely with sales and production to deliver code-compliant, manufacturable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce roof and floor truss layouts and designs using truss design software (Eagle TrueBuild).
  • Read and interpret architectural/structural plans and specifications.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes, engineering requirements, and CMT standards.
  • Coordinate with sales and production to clarify scope, resolve questions, and optimize designs for manufacturing.
  • Review and revise designs based on customer feedback, field changes, and engineering direction.
  • Assist with material lists, design documentation, and job file organization.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of truss or structural component design experience.
  • Proficiency with truss design software (Eagle TrueBuild or comparable).
  • Ability to read architectural/structural drawings and understand basic load paths.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Effective communication and teamwork with sales, production, and external partners.
  • Must work on-site in Sardinia, OH and be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of truss/component design experience across residential, ag, or commercial projects.
  • Experience in or with a truss manufacturing plant environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Paradigm ERP (or similar).
