Job Details
Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human response and advocacy in care of individuals and families.
Accountable for compliance with New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services and Nursing Division policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Emergency Nursing Association Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and Bill of Patient Rights.
Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients, serving as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
Educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management.
Administers medications safely according to UHS Hospitals policy.
Shares responsibility for productivity and resource utilization including staffing, time management, supplies, and services.
Complies with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies.
Participates in Nursing Shared Governance Model, Unit Council, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
Engages in professional development, continuing education, and mandatory education requirements.
Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
Provides supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
Performs duties related to Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.
May assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements
2+ years Emergency Department experience required.
Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing required.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing preferred.
Current New York State Registered Nurse License required.
BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross) required.
Unit-specific requirements listed in Compliance Matrix to be validated prior to candidate submission.
Schedule Information
Night shift.
12 hours per day.
36 hours per week.
Every other weekend schedule.
Unit Specific Information
Emergency Department unit.
Additional Details
Required skills: Collaboration, Communication (verbal & written), Judgement/Critical Thinking, Organizational Understanding, Planning (Organizing, Time Management), Problem Solving, Quality, Reliability, Safety and Risk Management.
Preferred skills: Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
