Job Description

Houston Methodist is seeking a Telestroke Neurovascular Nocturnist to join its nationally ranked Neurology program. This virtual opportunity involves providing acute nocturnal stroke coverage to regional sites, including comprehensive and primary stroke centers. The role offers a chance to contribute to a leading hospital system consistently recognized for excellence in Texas.

Practice Info

  • The Eddy Scurlock Stroke Center is the first DNV-accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center in the nation.
  • The stroke team provides telestroke services to approximately 3,000 additional patients annually.
  • Acute nocturnal services encompass stroke coverage to Houston Methodist regional sites with a combination of comprehensive and primary stroke centers.
  • Houston Methodist - The Woodlands, Willowbrook, and Sugar Land sites provide comprehensive stroke care with on-site 24/7 neurosurgery and neuro-endovascular capabilities.
  • Primary stroke centers remain high volume thrombolytic sites with robust system transfer algorithms in place.

Responsibilities

  • Hyperacute stroke management via Telestroke (TNK, ICH, LVO)
  • Neuroimaging diagnostic and virtual stroke evaluation with time-critical care delivery
  • Work well in a team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals across a system

Shift & Schedule

  • Flexible Schedule: 160-180 shifts
  • Hours: 4pm-7am; 7a-7a weekends/holidays

Requirements

  • Completed Neurology residency
  • Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology with exposure to Telestroke/Teleneurology
  • Eligible for a Texas medical license or currently hold a Texas medical license in good standing
  • Strong interests in academic missions, including high-quality clinical care, education, and research
  • Candidates must reside in TX, LA, FL, TN or WA
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced virtual care skills
