Software Engineer

Duties: Develop and maintain geospatial water resources web applications using Python-based open-source web frameworks (e.g., Tethys, Django), front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, D3, JavaScript), and SQL relational databases to process and visualize scientific data. Use open-source development methodologies including version control tools such as Git, GitHub, and/or GitLab to collaboratively develop water resources projects. Review and analyze scientific water resources literature to extract technical requirements and translate into custom software implementation. Write and maintain technical documentation for water resources software systems, internal APIs, and development workflows. Requirements: Bachelors degree in software development, computer science or a related field. Foreign equivalent degree accepted. Demonstrable ability to use Python programming. Demonstrable ability to use JavaScript, including JavaScript visualization libraries such as D3 with HTML and CSS to develop interactive user interfaces and geospatial data visualizations. Demonstrable ability to use open-source development methodologies including version control tools such as Git, GitHub or GitLab. Demonstrable ability to review and interpret scientific literature to understand research methodologies and technical requirements.
