SMT Process Engineer

Hiring: SMT Process Engineer
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Salary: $50,000 $70,000/yr
Schedule: Full-time On-Site

Central Texas Recruiting is seeking an experienced SMT Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and sustain Surface Mount Technology processes within an electronics manufacturing environment. This role will support new product introduction, process improvement, equipment qualification, defect reduction, and production efficiency while working closely with Production, Quality, and Design Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain SMT process parameters and standards
Support new product introduction activities
Manage stencil design, solder paste selection, and pick-and-place programming
Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for SMT defects
Monitor and improve yield, scrap, cycle time, and equipment utilization
Create and maintain work instructions, control plans, SOPs, and FMEAs
Support selection, installation, validation, and qualification of SMT equipment
Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing teams to maintain IPC and internal quality standards
Conduct process capability analysis and implement SPC methodologies
Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
Support operational and cross-functional engineering meetings

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
Minimum 2 years of SMT, process, or manufacturing engineering experience
Hands-on experience with SMT equipment and processes
Experience with screen printers, dispensing equipment, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI/AXI systems, auto insertion, or press-fit equipment
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
Experience with DOE and structured root cause analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience developing work instructions, SOPs, FMEAs, and process documentation
Knowledge of IPC standards and ISO/TS quality systems
IPC-A-610 certification preferred
Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred
Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen training preferred
NPI experience preferred
