Senior Social Worker - Clinical Resource Hub The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Senior Social Worker for the VISN 20 Clinical Resource Hub Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program Team. This position supports Veterans Affairs facilities within VISN 20 by providing advanced social work services, behavioral health care, psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and coordination with VA and community resources. Location: Anchorage, AK; Boise, ID; Portland, OR; Roseburg, OR; White City, OR; Seattle, WA; Vancouver, WA; or Walla Walla, WA Vacancies: 2 Salary: $108,944 - $141,631 per year Salary Note: Salary range reflects the Vancouver, WA salary table. Actual salary will be determined by duty station upon selection. Pay Scale & Grade: GS-12 Promotion Potential: None Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Appointment Type: Permanent Telework: Eligible, as determined by agency policy Remote/Virtual: Not available Travel Required: Not required Recruitment/Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Key Responsibilities: Provide advanced social work services to Veterans and families experiencing complex medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial concerns. Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and their families. Complete thorough psychosocial assessments to determine functioning, needs, diagnoses, treatment plans, and recovery goals. Participate as a member of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program treatment team. Collaborate with Veterans, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans. Apply advanced knowledge of mental health and substance abuse diagnoses and treatment procedures. Support discharge planning to ensure appropriate plans are developed and implemented in a timely manner. Serve as a liaison between Veterans, families, VA programs, and community resources. Independently implement treatment modalities, including counseling and supportive groups for Veterans and families. Provide consultation to treatment team members and staff regarding psychosocial needs and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care planning, treatment compliance, and discharge planning. Provide case management services to Veterans and families across the continuum of care. Independently assess and lead emergency or crisis intervention services for outpatients experiencing acute psychological crises. Assist with stabilization, referral arrangements, transfer to inpatient psychiatric care when needed, and follow-up care. Serve on committees and work groups as assigned. Act as a leader and role model within the BHIP team and in the delivery of telemental health social work services. Maintain professional growth through continuing education and current evidence-based treatment practices. Basic Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be proficient in written and spoken English. Must be subject to a background/security investigation. Selective Service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959. Must complete all application requirements and online onboarding requirements. Must participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program as required for Department of Veterans Affairs health care personnel. Must have a master's degree in social work from a school fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. GS-12 Senior Social Worker Qualifications: Must have at least two years of experience after advanced practice clinical licensure. One year of experience must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Must demonstrate advanced practice skills and judgment in a specialized area of social work practice. Must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and be able to provide supervision for licensure. Must demonstrate skill in specialized interventions and treatment modalities, including individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy. Must be able to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment planning. Must be able to develop and implement methods for measuring social work practice and service effectiveness. Must be able to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students and role model effective social work practice. Must be able to expand clinical knowledge and write policies, procedures, or practice guidelines related to the service delivery area. Preferred Experience: Experience in virtual care or tele-medicine. Experience with Oracle Health EMR. Physical Requirements: Physical requirements are typical for the occupation and generally do not require a pre-placement examination. A pre-placement examination may be required if the assignment requires operation of a government-owned or leased motor vehicle.
