Position Summary


A leading heavy industrial manufacturer is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to provide financial and operational support across a complex manufacturing environment. This role will partner closely with executive leadership, plant operations, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to drive profitability, strengthen cost controls, improve inventory accuracy, and support strategic business decisions.


Key Responsibilities


Manufacturing Finance & Cost Accounting



  • Oversee standard costing activities, including BOM reviews, cost rollups, and overhead allocation

  • Evaluate manufacturing variances related to labor, materials, purchasing, and overhead

  • Support inventory valuation, WIP analysis, inventory controls, and COGS reconciliation

  • Collaborate with plant leadership to identify savings opportunities and enhance profitability

  • Track key manufacturing metrics and provide insights to improve operational results


Financial Planning & Analysis



  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes

  • Build financial models to evaluate revenue, costs, margins, and cash flow

  • Analyze monthly financial results and explain key variances to leadership

  • Prepare executive-level reporting and performance analyses


Business & Operations Partnership



  • Act as a finance partner to manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and plant leadership

  • Evaluate capital investments, business cases, and ROI opportunities

  • Provide financial analysis for operational improvements and strategic initiatives


Systems & Reporting



  • Leverage ERP systems to evaluate financial and operational data

  • Create dashboards, reports, and analytical tools to support decision-making

  • Improve reporting processes, automation, and data accuracy


Qualifications



  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, or operations finance

  • Strong knowledge of standard costing and manufacturing cost accounting

  • Experience working directly with plant operations and manufacturing leadership

  • ERP experience; SAP strongly preferred

  • Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities

  • Ability to turn financial data into practical recommendations for the business


Preferred Experience



  • Background in heavy manufacturing, including steel, metals, pipe/tubular, oil & gas, forging, foundry, fabrication, industrial equipment, building products, chemical, paper, or similar industries

  • SAP FI/CO experience

  • Power BI, Tableau, or other advanced reporting platforms

  • Multi-site manufacturing experience

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA
