<p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p><p>The Science Teacher at Accelerated Learning Center plays a critical role in helping students reconnect with learning and make meaningful academic progress toward graduation. This role is designed for an educator who can deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction while supporting a flexible, student-centered learning model.</p><p>At ALC, teaching goes beyond content delivery. Our teachers partner closely with mentors to support the whole student academically, socially, and emotionally, especially during the critical first 90 days of enrollment.</p><p>In addition to instructional responsibilities, the Science Teacher will also serve as mentors to a small group of students, helping guide their personal growth, accountability, and long-term success.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>Instruction & Learning</strong></p><ul><li>Deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction (aligned to Arizona state standards)</li><li>Support students in both direct instruction and blended/computer based learning environments (e.g., Edgenuity)</li><li>Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including students who are credit-deficient or behind grade level</li><li>Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to ensure course completion and mastery</li><li>Facilitate small group instruction, labs, and hands-on learning experiences when appropriate</li></ul><p><strong>Student Support & Engagement</strong></p><ul><li>Build strong relationships with students to increase engagement, persistence, and retention</li><li>Collaborate with mentors to support students during the first 90 days, where connection and consistency are critical</li><li>Help students develop confidence, accountability, and ownership of their learning</li><li>Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment</li></ul><p><strong>Mentorship & Student Development</strong></p><ul><li>Serve as a mentor for a small caseload of students</li><li>Meet regularly with assigned students to build trust, set goals, and track progress</li><li>Guide students through the student journal, facilitating reflection, personal growth, and life-skill development</li><li>Support students in developing a clear academic and graduation plan in partnership with the broader team</li><li>Act as a consistent, trusted adult who helps students navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom</li><li>Collaborate with other mentors and staff to ensure continuity of support, especially during onboarding and key transition points</li></ul><p><strong>Collaboration & Teamwork</strong></p><ul><li>Partner closely with mentors, registrars, and leadership to support each student's individualized learning plan and graduation pathway</li><li>Participate in team meetings focused on student progress, interventions, and retention strategies</li><li>Communicate regularly with staff regarding student performance, attendance, and engagement</li></ul><p><strong>Assessment & Accountability</strong></p><ul><li>Track and document student progress, grades, and completion rates</li><li>Use data to inform instruction and interventions</li><li>Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state requirements</li></ul><p><strong>Culture & Mission Alignment</strong></p><ul><li>Model and reinforce ALC's commitment to relationships, accountability, and student success</li><li>Contribute to a culture that is hungry, humble, adaptable, and people-smart</li><li>Support school-wide initiatives that improve student outcomes and experience</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><p><strong>Required</strong></p><ul><li>Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate (Secondary Science or appropriate certification)</li><li>Bachelor's degree in Science, Education, or related field</li><li>Ability to work with at-risk and non-traditional student populations</li><li>Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in alternative education, dropout recovery programs, or credit recovery models</li><li>Experience with blended learning platforms (e.g., Edgenuity)</li><li>Experience in mentoring, coaching, or advisory roles with students</li></ul><p><strong>Key Competencies</strong></p><ul><li>Relationship-Driven: Builds trust quickly and connects with students who may be disengaged from traditional school</li><li>Adaptable: Thrives in a flexible, non-traditional learning environment</li><li>Results-Oriented: Focused on student progress, credit completion, and graduation outcomes</li><li>Mentor-Minded: Invested in students' personal growth, not just academic success</li><li>Collaborative: Works well within a team-based, mentor-supported model</li><li>Growth-Minded: Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement</li></ul><br/><br/><p><br/></p><br/><br/><p><strong>Compensation details:</strong> 0 Yearly Salary</p><br><br><p>PI4412d87c1-</p><img src="https://www.jobg8.com/Tracking.aspx?dpr4eHGj%2bcUMya%2baPHAci2GjSdS0ZgTwl" width="0" height="0" />
