Saw Operator - 1st Shift

About the Opportunity:
• Job Title: Saw Operator
• Pay Rate Range: $18.00-$25.00/hr
• Location: Becker, MN
• Schedule: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 7AM-3:30PM
• Position Type: Temp to Hire

Requirements and Qualifications:
• 1-3 years of experience.
• Experience in steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Saw Operating, in heavy manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Operating and Lifting Procedures for Overhead Cranes.
• Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, tape measures, methods and techniques used in safe band saw operation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• The Saw Operator/Pre-Fab position is a key production support position in a metal fabrication shop.
• The operator works closely with engineering and production teams to cut, form, and prepare parts according to engineered drawings and project schedules.
• The operator is responsible for the quality of work, productivity, attendance/punctuality, safety, flexibility, working without supervision, and general housekeeping.
• Set up and operate power saw to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim parts according to specifications.
• Cut metal to specified lengths using blueprints; remove burrs and sharp edges for safety and quality.
• Ensure proper consumables and stock are used; set up machines for each job.
• Inspect parts to ensure they meet engineering specifications and report discrepancies.
• Read and understand blueprints to determine correct cuts, forms, and tolerances.
• Selects and installs blade on machine, using hand tools.
• Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions.
• Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpiece, using hand tools and measuring devices.
• Scribes reference lines on material as guide for sawing operations according to part drawings, templates, sample parts, or specifications.
• Mounts workpiece in holding device, manually or using hoist.
• Verifies dimensions of finished workpiece, using measuring devices.
• Ability to stand, lift, climb and perform various other physical functions.
• Flexibility is incredibly important because it is a job shop and things can change easily.
