Kitchen Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily operations of a busy kitchen. This role is responsible for leading the back of house team, maintaining food quality and safety standards, managing inventory and food costs, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations. The ideal candidate is a hands on leader who thrives in a fast paced environment and is committed to operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficiency and consistency.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop kitchen staff.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented according to established quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Monitor inventory, place food and supply orders, and control food and labor costs.
  • Coordinate kitchen workflow during peak service periods.
  • Schedule staff to meet operational needs while maintaining productivity.
  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and coordinate maintenance as needed.
  • Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a kitchen leadership or management role.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Experience with inventory management, purchasing, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and restaurant management systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other flexible schedules as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience managing high volume kitchen operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational efficiency while maintaining high quality standards.
