We are a mortgage field services company looking for a field inspector to cover several counties around Sioux City. The area you cover would be decided based on your home location and availability, one inspector would not have to cover this entire area. This would be a consistent volume of inspections, with some areas being run weekly, and more rural areas requiring trips every 2 - 4 weeks depending on volume. Details can be discussed further in a phone call.


Counties needing coverage include: Woodbury, Ida, Sac, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Sioux, O'Brien, Clay, Palo Alto, Emmet, Dickinson, Osceola and Lyon counties in Iowa, as well as Thurston and Dixon counties in Nebraska.


What are Field Inspections (AKA: Mortgage Field Inspections)?

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on the properties they have financial interest in. The lender contracts with Big Red Preservation Services to have inspectors go out to verify the property occupancy, report general property conditions, letter delivery/posting, vacant interior walkthrough, or insurance repair progress report. Majority of our inspections are basic exteriors where some do require contact by door knock or letter delivery.


How many hours can I expect to work, and how much volume is in my area?

Each state we cover is broken down into territories/zones for logical and timely coverage by an inspector. We cannot guarantee the amount of work you will receive but we have 15+ years of volume history and are able to give volume numbers for each area we offer inspections. Depending on your location and experience 4-12 inspections can be completed per hour. Each week does vary as the Mortgage industry has strict guidelines on when inspections can be performed.


Pay and Hours:

  • Set rate per inspection. Efficient inspectors typically average hourly rate of $30+ per hour based on the number of inspections performed
  • This will vary depending on location, volume and efficiency.
  • Inspections are paid out Biweekly by direct deposit for work completed
  • Inspections can be completed during daylight hours, 7 days a week
  • The job is a 1099 Independent Contractor position


Inspection rates in these areas would be $7 to $10 per inspection, depending on location and inspection type, more rural counties have higher pay rates, and inspectors should be able to complete 5+ orders per hour. Additional details discussed during interview.


What is expected?

  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Requires being able to spend extended periods of time driving
  • Efficient time management to route and complete inspections
  • Making determinations of occupancy based on industry standards and report general property conditions
  • Using a mobile app to obtain all photographs, comments, and form documentation
  • Consistent communication with your inspection manager via text, email and phone
