Registration Clerk - Float

Job Title: Registration Clerk - Float Location: Salinas, CA 93901 Contract Duration: 3 Months (Possibility of extension) Shift: Variable (Flexibility Required) Pay: $25/hr on W2 Key Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact-greet patients, families, and visitors with professionalism and empathy. Interview patients or representatives to collect accurate demographic and financial information. Enter and maintain patient data in the hospital system with high accuracy. Verify patient identity using appropriate documentation. Collect insurance details, including Medicare/Medi-Cal, and determine primary/secondary payors. Obtain required authorizations and pre-certifications when applicable. Prepare and process patient documentation, charts, labels, and ID bands. Ensure all required forms and signatures are completed and compliant. Review and validate data for accuracy and completeness. Coordinate patient transfers, bed assignments, and system updates as needed. Adhere to all federal and state regulations, including Advance Healthcare Directives. Maintain a patient-first mindset, especially in high-stress or sensitive situations. Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience in data entry and/or medical office setting. Bilingual (Spanish/English). Strong attention to detail and data accuracy. Additional Requirements Must be flexible with varied shifts and start times, especially during training. Ability to adapt quickly and support continuous patient care operations.
