Job Summary:

The role involves providing direct nursing care in environments where patients require intricate assessments and interventions, adhering to the established policies and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather comprehensive information from patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to create a complete understanding of the patient's needs.
  • Analyze and synthesize assessment data to identify relevant diagnoses or conditions.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to determine optimal outcomes.
  • Formulate a care plan that outlines strategies and alternatives to achieve desired outcomes, utilizing clinical judgment in partnership with patients and the care team.
  • Execute the care plan, ensuring a safe environment and coordinating efforts with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Assess processes and progress towards achieving goals and outcomes.
  • Enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, reflecting on personal performance and staying updated with current knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively across all practice areas, collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Utilize clinical inquiry and integrate best practices into care.
  • Apply evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge to critical care nursing, ensuring care meets the specific needs of patients.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.

Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly use speech for oral communication.
  • Consistently stand and walk.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift or move patients and objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Engage in frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
  • Utilize vision for near and far distances and to distinguish colors.
  • Employ hearing to receive verbal communication and detect alarms.
  • Occasionally perform bending, stooping, kneeling, and other movements.
  • Rarely engage in crawling or running.

Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:

State of Work Location: Illinois

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Or one of the following:
    • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA)
