Position Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as part of a collaborative team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This role operates within a clinical setting managed by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by our Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by our Professional Practice Model and evidence-based research. RN competencies are aligned with these models and are reinforced by our core values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practices outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, individuals are expected to advocate for the patient's voice while adhering to system policies and supporting service excellence goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:
    • Utilizes the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, employing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
    • Delivers relationship-based, patient-centered care that respects population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions) and cultural diversity.
    • Engages with patients and significant others appropriately, utilizing methods such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds to keep them informed and focused on their care goals.
    • Adheres to current clinical practice standards.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration:
    • Coordinates and documents safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through inclusive interdisciplinary communication.
    • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that encourages the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
    • Engages in performance improvement initiatives, supporting research and collaboration to enhance patient care quality.
  • Professional Development and Initiative:
    • Completes all required professional competency assessments and ongoing education.
    • Acts as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
  • Evidence-Based Practice and Research:
    • Advocates for evidence-based practices and participates in nursing research and performance improvement initiatives.
    • Ensures compliance with organizational policies and clinical competencies, including legal and accreditation standards.
    • Engages in data collection and formulates relevant clinical questions to enhance evidence-based practice.
  • Resources and Support:
    • Plans proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
    • Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
    • Supports the efficient use of human and material resources.
Education and Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:
    • Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Registered Nurse (Single State) required upon hire.
    • RN - Multi-state Compact required upon hire.
    • Basic Life Support certification required.
    • BLS Instructor certification preferred.
    • BLS Provisional certification required.
  • Experience:
    • Less than 1 year of experience is required, with completion of clinical hours from an accredited nursing program.
    • Direct patient care experience is preferred.
