    What Your Job Will Be Like

    We are seeking a R&D Laboratory Support Technologist to support our Calibration & Maintenance Team. This individual will perform Calibration and Maintenance of equipment but also perform a variety of duties in support of technical activities related to equipment lifecycle management and associated infrastructure in Center 7500. These include supporting instrumentation, process mechanics, computer and PLC applications, testing and troubleshooting of systems including building or modifying systems, and data collection and analysis. It includes managing high volume of variable requests from equipment owners, lab owners, and building residents.On any given day, you may be called on to:
      Execute calibrations and maintenance on a variety of equipment such as ovens, furnaces, temperature chambers, vacuum systems, welders, laser markers, part-cleaning systems, and production testers.Troubleshoot and repair all types of production equipment including PLC control systems, computer hardware, and related sub-components.Run a variety of equipment and collect, analyze dataReview, revise, and back up computer software including Windows OS, LabVIEW, and various PLC software applications.Interface extensively with our Center customers and provide them with strong technical support and frequent communication of status.Applicants on this requisition may be interviewed by multiple organizations at Sandia National Laboratories.Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work on-site.
      Salary Range

      $63,800 - $123,400 Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
      Qualifications We Require

        Associate's degree in a technical field such as electronics, manufacturing technology, engineering technology, or a related technical field; or equivalent (No degree + 4 years of experience)Experience in equipment maintenance which includes troubleshooting and repairAbility to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

          About Our Team

          The Calibration & Maintenance Team is an approved calibration and maintenance provider for the Neutron Generator Enterprise (NGE). This team is responsible for the calibration and maintenance of equipment that supports the NGE mission of providing neutron sources for national security. It is also the responsibility of the Calibration and Maintenance Team to provide efficient and timely services which include onsite calibration, predictive and preventative maintenance, and all aspects of corrective maintenance.Department 7573 provides asset and infrastructure support to Centers 7400 & 7500. The Equipment Lifecycle Management team coordinates equipment needs across the center, and leads projects to procure, install and characterize new equipment, including replacements and new capabilities. The Calibration & Maintenance team supports all center equipment with preventative and corrective maintenance and calibration. The infrastructure team coordinates with 4700 & 4800 on facility needs and manages process infrastructure equipment across the center.
          Posting Duration

          Security Clearance

          Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.           If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs. If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
          Position Information

          This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
