Seeking a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide full-time inpatient behavioral health coverage. The provider will manage adult and adolescent psychiatric patients, perform admissions and daily rounding, participate in consults, and collaborate with psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary care team.

Hourly $130/hr Night Call $220/shift 24 Hour On Call $1,070 per 24 hours Call Back $200/hr
Schedule Full-time, shifts per month Monday Friday clinic coverage One weekend per month Day Call: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (1:3 rotation) Night Call: 5:00 PM 8:00 AM (1:4 rotation) One weekend call rotation per month Practice Setting Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital Adult and Adolescent Behavioral Health Units Hospital consult service Level III Trauma Center Responsibilities Perform psychiatric evaluations and admission histories Conduct physical examinations Manage daily inpatient rounds Order and interpret diagnostic studies Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications Coordinate ongoing care with supervising psychiatrists Complete psychiatric consults from the Emergency Department Order referrals and coordinate discharge planning Provide addiction education and management Participate in interdisciplinary care planning Practice Details 36 inpatient behavioral health beds 28 Adult 8 Adolescent (ages 8 17) Average daily census: 18 patients Average patient load: patients/day Average of 2 hospital consults/day Length of stay: 3 5 days Three psychiatrists and seven APPs Psychiatrists supervise and co-sign APP documentation Teaching opportunities with nursing students, OT students, and Family Medicine residents Disorders Treated Psychotic Disorders Substance Use Disorders Anxiety Disorders Personality Disorders Delirium, Dementia, and Cognitive Disorders Adjustment Disorders Childhood and Adolescent Psychiatric Disorders Somatoform and Factitious Disorders Support Staff Psychiatrists Behavioral Health Nurses Behavioral Health Technicians Recreational Therapists Social Workers Utilization Management Nurse Discharge Planners EMR Cerner (transitioning to Epic on September 26, 2026) Requirements Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Active Iowa license No new graduates Ability to start as soon as credentialed Additional Information Estimated credentialing timeframe: days Travel reimbursement available per facility guidelines.
