Job Title: Program Assistant-
Department: Child Care
Reports To: Autumn Speer, Program Director
Salary/ Availability: $10.00/hour (90 day Introductory Period), $11.00 starting on the employees 91st day of employment. $0.50/every 6 months based on employee performance evaluations not to exceed $13.00/Hourly.
Monday-Friday 2:30-06:00 (School Year)
Monday- Friday 7:30-06:00 (Summer/ School Breaks & Holidays)
Some Saturdays 8:00-1:00pm for Staff Development
Job Summary: After-School & Summer Program Assistants are the front line child-care providers at our lively and energetic center. They provide care for groups of up to 16 children at a time, while keeping the children engaged in and ensuring the health and safety of the children, and cleanliness of the center at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety of all children in the group ranging in ages from 5-13 years old
- Actively engaged with students while implementing a STEAM-based curriculum
- Follow curriculum/lesson plans to facilitate the planned activities
- Provide support to fellow staff members
- Ensure compliance with all relevant state regulations and standards
- Serve as a role model to the children in the group through appearance and actions
- Maintain an environment that is safe, clean, and inviting
- Transport children from school to center, and on field trips on one of the Southside Youth Senter vans (must be 21 years of age).
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Must be able to pass Texas Department of Health & Human Services Background Check and Fingerprints
- Must possess or be able to obtain valid Pediatric/Adult CPR & First Aid, as well as food handler's certification.
- Must Possess a valid Drivers license or State ID
- 6 months employment in licensed child-care preferred but not required.
