Principal Software Engineer

Job title Principal Software Engineer Job duties Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed software systems that support cloud-based infrastructure platforms and artificial intelligence workloads. Develop backend services and application programming interfaces that enable communication between distributed components of enterprise software systems. Design and implement systems for resource orchestration, access control, and workload management within containerized cloud environments. Build and maintain software platforms that manage containerized applications and compute workloads across public cloud environments. Analyze system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement improvements to ensure reliability, scalability, and high availability of software systems. Collaborate directly with customers, assisting them in onboarding and installing our product in their environment, and work with internal engineering teams to gather requirements, support product deployments, and incorporate technical feedback into product improvements. Participate in system architecture discussions, mentor engineers, and contribute to the design and delivery of production software systems. Oversee technical direction and strategic planning for major projects, and mentor senior engineers and guide cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Provide leadership in architectural decisions, process improvements, and resource planning to drive innovation and technical excellence. Education and Experience required Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field involving computer programming, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed computing. 6 years of experience designing and developing distributed software systems, cloud platforms, and backend services. Background 6 years of experience working with Kubernetes, Cloud infrastructure environments, and monitoring and troubleshooting distributed production systems. 6 years of experience designing distributed software systems that run across multiple servers to support scalable and reliable cloud services. 6 years of experience developing backend software systems using programming languages including one of the following: Go (Golang), Python, C, or C++, which are used to implement core platform services, automation tools, and system components for distributed cloud platforms. 6 years of experience designing and implementing application programming interfaces using Representational State Transfer (REST) architecture and remote procedure call protocols including gRPC to enable communication between distributed software services. 6 years of experience designing and building software platforms that manage containerized application workloads using Kubernetes-based orchestration systems in enterprise cloud environments, including cluster lifecycle management, resource scheduling, and cluster operations across public cloud providers. 6 years of experience working with data storage technologies including relational databases, document databases, or time-series databases used by software applications to store operational and monitoring data. 3 years of experience implementing role-based authorization and access control mechanisms for multi-tenant enterprise software platforms, including systems that enforce fine-grained permissions across users, teams, and services. 6 years of experience monitoring and troubleshooting production software systems using observability and system monitoring tools including Prometheus and centralized logging platforms to analyze system metrics, identify failures, and maintain service reliability. 3 years of experience collaborating with enterprise customers and internal engineering teams to support technical onboarding, troubleshoot deployments, gather technical requirements, and implement software features in production environments.
