We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Manager to lead our world-famous Appetizing and Seafood Salad Department. This department is responsible for producing many of Zabar's signature specialty items, including chicken salad, tuna salad, whitefish salad, pickled herring, pickled lox, and other traditional appetizing favorites made from long-standing Zabar family recipes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly in production while leading a team in a fast-paced food environment. The Production Manager will oversee daily food preparation, product quality, inventory, ingredient ordering, production flow, and department staff to ensure consistency, freshness, and efficiency throughout the operation.

Job Requirements

  • Sous-chef, production chef, or prepared foods management experience preferred
  • Experience with high-volume or bulk food production
  • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
  • Ability to manage production schedules, inventory, and team workflow
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to lift 30-40 lbs.
  • Strong attention to quality, consistency, and organization
