- History and physical exam admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages to correct or treat various conditions, illnesses, and injuries of the extremities, spine, and associated structures by medical, surgical, and physical means.
- Such conditions include, but are not limited to, trauma, infections, tumors, metabolic disturbances of the musculoskeletal system, deformities, injuries, and degenerative diseases of the spine, hands, feet, knee, hip, shoulder, and elbow, and include primary and secondary muscular problems and the effects of central or peripheral nervous system lesions of the musculoskeletal system.
- Orthopedic surgeons may provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies.
- They may also assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Board: Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
- Licenses: Active IA License or Universal License (IMLC)
- Experience: Fellowship trained, experienced
- Other Qualifications: Clean malpractice/background history, Self-Query NPDB Report, must cover all three blocks
- Provide inpatient and call coverage at both Waterloo and Cedar Falls Medical Centers.
- Take calls from anyone who calls into the facility with questions (non-negotiable).
- Perform history and physical exams, admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation for orthopedic conditions.
- Perform surgical procedures for trauma, infections, tumors, degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
- Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions.
