Wellstar Health System is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon with Sports Medicine specialization to join the orthopedic team at its new hospital in Columbia County. This physician will deliver comprehensive sports medicine and orthopedic care to a diverse and active patient population, with opportunities to help shape a growing program in a state-of-the-art facility.
The ideal candidate is clinically excellent, patient-centered, and motivated to collaborate within a multidisciplinary care model that emphasizes quality outcomes, innovation, and community engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of sports-related and musculoskeletal injuries
Perform operative and non-operative orthopedic sports medicine care
Manage acute and chronic injuries involving the shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, ankle, and foot
Collaborate with athletic trainers, physical therapists, primary care providers, and other specialists
Participate in call coverage per departmental guidelines
Utilize evidence-based practices and Wellstar clinical protocols
Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and patient experience initiatives
Support community outreach, injury prevention education, and possible team or school coverage (as applicable)
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
Completion of a Sports Medicine fellowship
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Georgia
DEA license or eligibility
Experience in sports medicine within a hospital or integrated health system
Interest in program development and service line growth
Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
Full-time clinical schedule
Mix of clinic, surgical, and hospital-based care
