Overview: Provides leadership in the development of professional nursing practice by providing administrative support and structure for the delivery of professional nursing care in the Department of Nursing and Patient Services. Accountable for strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems that support professional practice and achieve the nursing vision and organizational goals. Maintains 24-hour accountability for unit functions. The Nurse Manager provides leadership to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration. Qualifications: Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Education: Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) required. Current staff members without an MSN must obtain the degree by December 2012, or by a date specified in an agreement with the VP/AVP.
Professional Experience: Minimum of five years of professional nursing practice required.
Leadership & Management: Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with knowledge and application of:
Advanced professional nursing practice
Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes
Nursing care delivery models
Health care delivery systems
Budgetary processes
License, Certification & Registration
Registered Nurse License: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
