Job ID: 66474 Department: TN DOH Position: Medical Assistant Location: 330 Pageant Ln Clarksville, Tennessee 37040 Duration: 8+ Months Shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Job Duties Medical Assistant 1 will work collaboratively to carry out the following responsibilities: Job Requirements: Perform direct clinical care under the supervision of licensed nurses, Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and/or Physicians (MDs) utilizing current laboratory policies and procedures and nursing guidelines. Explain and perform laboratory procedures such as venipuncture and capillary sticks, perform vital signs, growth measures, vision and hearing examinations, and assist higher level provider during patient exams. Accurate document in the electronic health record reason for visit, vital signs, health history, and all laboratory procedures. Perform quality control measures and maintain records as required. Perform quality controls on all point of care laboratory tests, monitor temperature and humidity of medication room, monitor temperature of vaccine refrigerator and freezer, and collect, code, handle, and ship specimens. Participate as a contributing member of the clinical care team and county health department to accomplish operational goals of the strategic plan. Provide excellent patient care and promote primary prevention. Contribute to a culture of safety by following guidelines of the electronic health record, bloodborne pathogen standards, infection control, and laboratory guidelines. Maintain, clean, organize, and rotate stock in clinic area, and report errors. Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to one year in one or a combination of the following: providing individuals with full time personal (e.g., cleaning, serving meals, and dressing), habilitative, rehabilitative or medical care; medical records keeping or medical laboratory work. Substitution of Education for Experience: Certificate in nurse assisting or medical assisting may substitute for the year of required experience.
