Job Description Join the Site Engineering (SE) team as a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the Moored Training Ship Directorate/Site Projects, Planning, and Engineering (SPPE) Subdivision supporting engineering and maintenance of site infrastructure, utilities, and MTS support systems as well as the planning, design, and execution of facility improvements and construction projects at Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston (NPTU-C). SE is the cognizant design agent for all MTS support systems and most shoreside mission-specific infrastructure at NPTU-C. This exciting opportunity will provide a variety of work in technical design, project support, and field engineering. In this role you will have the opportunity to interact with personnel across NPTU-C, Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), and stakeholders inside and outside the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) including various Government entities, architecture/engineering (A/E) firms, and construction contractors. Specific responsibilities include: • Cognizant engineer (i.e., subject matter expert) for various site mechanical systems to include site high pressure and low pressure air systems • Maintenance of operating instructions, maintenance procedures, engineering drawings, and spare parts management for MTS support systems • Supporting efficient problem resolution of various technical issues and formally communicating the resolution • Evaluating proposed improvements including determining estimated cost and return on investment • Support the planning, selection, and implementation of various facility and system projects proposed by the site for execution • Performing technical and Quality Assurance reviews for mechanical disciplines and deliverables (design reviews, construction submittal reviews, field surveys, and closeout inspections) to support various SPPE-led projects Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Pay Range $106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
