Job Type: RegularThe Maintenance Technician Lead directs and assists the shift maintenance crew, performs all repairs as required by the department, performs troubleshooting processes, manages and performs preventive maintenance program, and assists with machine set ups and rebuilds as required. Your role in achieving results:
- Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.
- Initiate, implement, and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the dairy industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiate reordering as needed.
- Maintain and repair maintenance shop equipment.
- Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment. (does not apply to LSFI or LSC)
- Prepare reports analyze data (does not apply to LSFI or LSC); making recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related issues.
- Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
- Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for
improvement.
- Implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Drive training and coaching to ensure compliance with Safety standards and incident prevention.
- Coordinates activities with Plant Operations Departments.
- Understand and comply with all Quality Assurance policies, immediately reporting any potential food safety issues to management.
- Contact with suppliers and vendors as well as occasional contact with regulatory agencies for inspections.
- Operate equipment including but not limited to the following: welders, drills, saws, grinders, wrenches and screwdrivers, punches and presses, rollers, hoists, jacks, cars, forklifts, man lifts, ladders, testers, chemical test kits, plant-specific machinery.
- Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Safety Protocol
- Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
- Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
- Support safety policies and programs.

What we are looking for to deliver these results:
Education Required:
- Associate's or Technical Degree or Trade School Certificate/Diploma required.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Experience Required:
- Minimum six (6) years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment required.
- Experience in fluid processing and basic welding required.
- Experience with reading electrical and PID drawings required.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure Required:
- Obtain and maintain Forklift Driver Certification as required by OSHA.
- HazMat Responder Certification required.
