Overview

This position assists in the planning of the daily operational, financial, leadership and/or clinical support to patients, staff, manager and director within the department. This position supervises employees and participates in selection, orientation, evaluation and staff scheduling when delegated by manager.


Responsibilities

Patient Care
Performs ABG punctures according to NAH Policy.

Provides proper concentration of pharmacological solutions and administers appropriately as prescribed by MD or licensed independent practitioner and monitors for effectiveness.

Records patient vital signs including breath sounds, ventilator status, mental status, and response to treatment.

Identifies patient and verifies orders before administration of any treatment or respiratory care to patient.

Sets ventilator parameters according to established patient protocol and doctors orders.

Performs/assists in the placing of E.T. tube properly, minimizing facial, oral, and tracheal trauma.

Administrative
Completes all billing paperwork.

Promotes, advocates for and participates in multidisciplinary patient care services using collegial and collaborate approach to group decision making as part of a self-direct work team.

Serves as a resource and provides leadership assistance to achieve optimal clinical, operational, financial, and satisfaction outcomes.

Assist in the development of the department budget. Plays a key role in ensuring budgetary goals are met on an annual basis by ensuring proper staffing and proper use/management of supplies.

Assists in hiring , trains, and directs the work flow for staff. This position is also accountable for participating in the development and implementation of department goals and objectives.

Demonstrates timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, EMR entries, and patient responses.

Mentorship
Promotes, advocates for and participates in multidisciplinary patient care services using collegial and collaborate approach to group decision making as part of a self-direct work team.

Serves as a resource and provides assistance to achieve optimal clinical, operational, financial, and satisfaction outcomes.

Equipment Care
Assembles and disassembles, operates and maintains, troubleshoots, cleans, and performs minor repairs on equipment.

Educate patients on therapy's and prescribed medications/therapy given prior to discharge while documenting patient understanding.

Compliance/Safety
Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Practices in a safe and cost effective manner.

Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.

If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.


Qualifications

Education

Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related healthcare field - Required or to be completed within 2 years from date of hire

Master's Degree- Preferred

Certification & Licensures Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners- Required
National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)- Required
BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP- Required
One specialty NRBC credential- Preferred

Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.


Experience

Minimum 3 years acute care experience - Preferred with a Bachelors Degree or
Minimum 5 years acute care experience - Preferred without a Bachelors Degree
