As an Industrial Electrical Technician I - Field Services, you will support AWC's growing electrical support services by performing field service, equipment inspections, troubleshooting, startup assistance, and repair of industrial electrical equipment while also supporting the assembly, testing, and repair of electrical equipment in our shop.

Working alongside our Sales, Engineering, and Project teams, you will help deliver high-quality electrical solutions while providing exceptional customer support. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills both in the field and in a hands-on shop environment supporting industrial customers throughout the region.

This position is primarily based in our electrical shop with occasional travel to customer facilities throughout Louisiana and surrounding areas.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Perform field service activities including equipment inspections, troubleshooting, startup assistance, and repair of industrial electrical equipment
  • Diagnose, repair, and test variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, enclosed motor starters, and other industrial electrical equipment in the field or within AWC's shop
  • Coordinate with customers to evaluate equipment issues and recommend practical repair or replacement solutions
  • Support equipment startup, commissioning, and operational testing
  • Assemble industrial electrical control panels and equipment from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and AutoCAD electrical drawings
  • Build and wire enclosed motor starters, VFD panels, junction boxes, operator stations, and other industrial electrical assemblies
  • Perform quality inspections and functional testing of completed assemblies prior to shipment
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and customer documentation
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Account Managers to support customer projects and service activities
  • Assist with shop operations including material staging, inventory organization, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and supporting the efficient flow of materials and equipment through the shop
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service work, inspections, repairs, and completed assemblies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve shop efficiency, quality, and customer responsiveness
  • Represent AWC professionally while building trusted relationships with customers, vendors, and teammates

Skills You'll Need

  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial electrical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

  • Comfortable working in industrial environments and traveling to customer sites as needed
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills

Here's What Will Set You Apart

  • Technical degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related technical field preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor starters, or industrial electrical equipment
  • Experience assembling industrial electrical control panels or motor control equipment
  • Familiarity with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, ABB, Schneider Electric, Eaton, or similar industrial electrical products
  • Ability to read AutoCAD electrical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic and testing equipment including multimeters, megohmmeters, clamp meters, and other electrical test instruments
  • Understanding of industrial motor control circuits and electrical safety practices
  • Forklift certification or experience operating warehouse equipment is a plus
  • Willingness to continue learning new technologies and expand technical capabilities
