Housekeeping Aid The Veterans Health Administration is seeking Housekeeping Aid / Environmental Services Technicians for the VA Eastern Oklahoma Health Care System, with vacancies in Muskogee, OK and Tulsa, OK. This position supports the patient care experience by maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary VA facilities for Veterans, families, visitors, and staff. Perform routine housekeeping duties throughout VA medical center areas. Clean wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms, and other areas. Sweep, mop, scrub floors using machines, vacuum carpets, and vacuum upholstered furniture. Empty waste baskets and discard trash. Clean light globes and Venetian blinds. Wash walls, windows, and ceilings by climbing small ladders. Refill toilet tissue and towel dispensers. Move furniture as needed. Address spills quickly to keep patient areas clean and safe. Install light bulbs in halls and rooms as assigned. Vacuum and polish floors. Carry out assignments with minimal supervision. Help maintain VA facilities for Veterans, families, visitors, and staff. Basic Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must meet Federal Wage System qualification requirements for the WG-2 level. Must complete all required application steps, including the application, questionnaire, and required documents. Selective Service registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959. Must be subject to background/security investigation. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination. Must complete online onboarding requirements. Must provide acceptable identification for employment eligibility verification. Must participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program as required for Department of Veterans Affairs health care personnel. Physical Requirements: Requires continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing. Requires occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment, such as wall washers and industrial buffers, weighing over 50 pounds. Requires considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, concentration, and visual acuity to see dirt, dust, and debris. Requires care when working on ladders, using 30- to 100-pound powered equipment, or handling hazardous materials. Working Conditions: Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors with exposure to heat, cold, or inclement weather. Personal protective equipment may be required. Exposure to contagious diseases, blood, and bloody secretions is inherent to the position.
