Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic

The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, primarily working within a small team of 1-3 mechanics. Reporting directly to the office, this position focuses on a mix of preventive maintenance and emergency repairs, ensuring equipment reliability and safety in the field. The mechanic will rely on standard diagnostic tools and hands-on repair techniques, with minimal use of digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Inspect heavy equipment for wear, damage, and operational issues
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and hydraulic systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic problems using diagnostic tools
• Conduct safety compliance checks and maintain a safe working environment
• Document maintenance and repair activities accurately
• Manage tools and equipment inventory effectively

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge and skills in diesel engine repair and hydraulic systems
• Proficient in preventive maintenance and diagnostic tool use
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Understanding of safety compliance standards
• Mechanical aptitude with effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to pass DOT or CDL physical examination
