Location: Wesley Chapel, FL
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Generator Technician to join a growing team in Wesley Chapel, FL. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of residential, commercial, and industrial generator systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on standby generator systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, fuel, cooling, and control system issues.
• Install, commission, and service generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
• Conduct load bank testing and system performance evaluations.
• Troubleshoot generator controls, wiring, and engine-related components.
• Complete service reports, work orders, and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Respond to emergency service calls and equipment failures as needed.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company policies, and safety standards.
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding service findings and repair recommendations.
• Maintain company-provided tools, equipment, and service vehicle.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of generator maintenance, repair, or installation experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and engine diagnostics.
• Experience servicing diesel, natural gas, and propane-powered generators.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with automatic transfer switches (ATS) and generator control systems.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Generac, Kohler, Cummins, CAT, MTU, or similar generator systems.
• Manufacturer certifications are a plus.
• Experience performing load bank testing.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders as required.
• Comfortable working in mechanical and electrical environments.
