ESTIMATOR Confidential Search San Diego County, CA On-Site Direct Hire Hiring on behalf of an established Southern California infrastructure contractor. The employer is disclosed to candidates who move forward.
THE ROLE Own the numbers behind competitive bids on utility infrastructure projects. You lead the estimating group while staying hands-on with the estimates yourself, and work closely with operations from bid through hand-off.
WHAT YOU WILL DO Lead and mentor the estimating team Turn client RFPs and scopes of work into complete, defensible cost estimates Run quantity take-offs and build bid schedules from plans and specifications Join pre-bid meetings, bid strategy sessions and site walks Define subcontractor and supplier packages and pressure-test their pricing Assemble bid packages and carry them through internal approval Compare actual costs to budget and feed what you learn into the next bid Support project managers through hand-off, resource planning and change orders
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 8+ years in estimating with growing responsibility Utility infrastructure or heavy civil estimating experience Commercial estimating software: B2W, Accubid, HCSS or similar Strong Excel; MS Project or P6 scheduling Able to pull a clean scope from plans, specs and bid documents Degree in engineering, construction management or finance preferred; equivalent experience considered
COMPENSATION $130,000 - $150,000 base depending on experience, plus medical, dental and vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid vacation, holiday and sick time.
