Position: Estimator (Commercial HVAC & Sheet Metal Ductwork)

Location: Houston, TX 77041 - On-Site Position (No Remote Work)

Pay Rate: $20.00+ per hour (Depending on Experience)

Position Type: Permanent Position Immediate Hire

Job Summary

We are seeking a sharp, analytical, and detail-oriented Estimator with experience in commercial HVAC and sheet metal ductwork to join our growing team. This in-office position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.

The ideal candidate will have experience estimating HVAC or sheet metal projects, strong blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to develop accurate labor and material cost estimates while working closely with project managers, engineers, vendors, and field teams.

ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Bid Preparation

• Review architectural and mechanical drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for ductwork, HVAC systems, and related materials
• Develop labor and material cost estimates based on project requirements
• Prepare complete bid proposals, budgets, and scopes of work for negotiated and hard-bid projects
• Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings

Vendor & Project Coordination

• Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors and evaluate competitive quotes
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure accuracy and constructability
• Communicate effectively with general contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Maintain organized bid tracking logs and historical cost data
• Monitor market conditions, labor rates, and material pricing trends

QualificationsRequired:

• 2+ years of experience estimating HVAC or sheet metal ductwork projects (commercial preferred)
• Strong knowledge of construction documents and mechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Strong communication and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines

Highly Preferred:

• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or estimating software such as FastDUCT, QuoteSoft, EST MEP, or Trimble
• Familiarity with local subcontractor markets and pricing
• Degree or coursework in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
