Title: Lead Electrical Designer IV Location: Midwest / Mountain West, hybrid preferred; remote considered for qualified candidates Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire Pay Range: $50-$58/hr W-2 Per Diem: Not specified Start Date: ASAP Position Overview We are seeking a Senior/Lead Electrical Designer to take ownership of complex electrical design packages and provide technical leadership to a collaborative design team. This is a hands-on position requiring advanced electrical routing knowledge, strong 3D design capabilities, and experience coordinating design deliverables. The ideal candidate is a motivated, solutions-oriented designer who communicates confidently, takes initiative, and can guide others while remaining directly involved in technical design work. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of complex electrical designs, including cable tray, conduit, equipment layouts, and electrical routing systems. Perform and oversee 3D electrical modeling, drawing development, and multidisciplinary design coordination. Plan and coordinate design assignments, review technical deliverables, and support project schedules. Identify and resolve electrical design conflicts, routing challenges, and constructability concerns. Coordinate with engineers, construction personnel, and other design disciplines. Review electrical drawings and models for accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable standards. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and design support to other designers. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of electrical design experience, with demonstrated senior-level or design leadership responsibilities. Advanced proficiency with 3D electrical design software, preferably Revit or SmartPlant 3D. Strong technical knowledge of electrical routing, cable tray, conduit, and major electrical equipment layouts. Experience leading electrical design packages, reviewing deliverables, and coordinating work across multiple disciplines. Working knowledge of 2D drafting software and applicable electrical design standards. Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and technical leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with industrial or large commercial electrical design projects. Experience with underground duct banks, grounding/bonding, lighting systems, and lightning protection. Familiarity with MicroStation, Navisworks, and multidisciplinary model coordination. Construction-facing experience involving RFIs, constructability reviews, and resolving field design issues. Experience mentoring designers and coordinating design schedules and resources.
