The organization delivers full-lifecycle EDRM services with a strong focus on RelativityOne and combines advanced technology with defensible processes to solve challenging discovery and data problems. This opportunity is well suited for a highly technical eDiscovery professional who enjoys tackling problems that fall outside standard workflows and wants the autonomy to engineer new solutions. Position Overview The eDiscovery Solutions Engineer is a highly autonomous, hands-on technical role for a curious and persistent problem solver with deep RelativityOne expertise, strong data-analysis capabilities, and scripting skills. This individual will tackle complex data challenges involving abnormal, non-standard, proprietary, malformed, or otherwise difficult data. The Solutions Engineer will determine how unfamiliar data is structured and develop methods to parse, convert, normalize, analyze, review, and ultimately produce it in a defensible manner. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between eDiscovery, data engineering, scripting, analytics, and workflow design. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys owning difficult technical problems from initial diagnosis through delivery of a working solution. Key Responsibilities Complex Data Analysis & Problem Solving Investigate and reverse-engineer abnormal, non-standard, proprietary, or malformed data types and file formats to understand their underlying structure. Develop methods to parse, extract, transform, convert, and normalize complex or unusual data for processing, review, and production. Analyze large and messy datasets to identify relevant elements, patterns, and anomalies. Diagnose encoding problems, corruption, unusual data structures, and other technical issues and engineer practical, defensible solutions. Develop tailored approaches for data challenges that cannot be resolved through standard eDiscovery workflows. Scripting & Automation Write scripts using Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies to parse, convert, transform, and analyze complex data. Automate repetitive and high-volume data tasks. Build repeatable scripted workflows for recurring abnormal-data scenarios. Apply scripting and automation to improve data culling, quality control, reporting, processing, and review. Leverage RelativityOne APIs and platform capabilities to extend and automate workflows. Document scripts, methodologies, and technical processes to ensure solutions are repeatable, defensible, and transferable to other team members. eDiscovery Data Analysis & Execution Manage technical aspects of the eDiscovery data lifecycle across the EDRM, including processing, review setup, data culling, reporting, and production. Use RelativityOne to organize, analyze, and report on large and complex datasets while maintaining data integrity and defensibility. Apply advanced analytics, TAR, and AI-enabled workflows to improve review efficiency and outcomes. Perform quality-control checks on data, workflows, and deliverables to ensure accuracy and completeness. Troubleshoot and resolve sophisticated technical issues involving RelativityOne and other eDiscovery technologies. Independent Problem Solving & Innovation Proactively identify data challenges and opportunities to develop more effective technical approaches. Own complex problems end-to-endfrom diagnosis and solution design through scripting, testing, validation, and implementation. Serve as a senior technical resource to analysts and solutions professionals confronting difficult or ambiguous data problems. Evaluate emerging eDiscovery technologies, data formats, AI capabilities, and technical approaches and identify opportunities to apply them in practice. Help transform one-time technical solutions into repeatable workflows and institutional knowledge. Skills & Competencies Expert-level RelativityOne knowledge, including administration, analytics, and workflow design. Strong scripting skills using Python, PowerShell, or comparable technologies, particularly for data parsing, transformation, analysis, and automation. Demonstrated ability to examine unfamiliar data and determine its structure, format, relationships, and potential methods of interpretation. Deep understanding of file formats, metadata, encoding, structured and unstructured data, and the eDiscovery lifecycle. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to distinguish meaningful data from noise. Knowledge of advanced eDiscovery analytics, TAR, and emerging AI-assisted discovery workflows. Ability to communicate sophisticated technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Exceptional initiative and the ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision. Intellectual curiosity and persistence when confronting problems for which an established solution may not exist. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving, and highly autonomous environment. Ability to serve clients primarily on Pacific Time business hours. Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of combined experience in eDiscovery data analysis, eDiscovery engineering, data engineering, or closely related technical work within a service provider, law firm, corporate legal department, or similar environment. Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) certification. At least 3 years of administrator-level Relativity experience. Demonstrated experience using scripting to parse, transform, manipulate, or analyze complex data within eDiscovery, legal technology, or a comparable data-intensive environment. Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Legal Studies, or a related discipline. Preferred Qualifications Relativity Expert or Relativity Master certification. Experience working with proprietary, unusual, malformed, or non-standard data types and file formats, including data conversion and normalization. Experience with TAR, advanced analytics, AI-assisted review, and/or generative AI workflows. Familiarity with databases, regular expressions, APIs, structured and unstructured data, and large-scale data processing. Strong understanding of litigation support, legal workflows, discovery obligations, and data governance.
