Indiana University School of Medicine seeks a physician leader to serve as Clinical Director of Cell and Gene Therapy within the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics. This is a unique opportunity to help guide a well-established but evolving program at a pivotal moment, as the department defines its long-term direction and growth strategy.

The program includes a successful viral vector manufacturing facility and testing laboratory with a strong foundation in gene therapy and an established history of NIH-supported work. With recent leadership transitions and changes in funding, IU is seeking a leader who can bring vision, clinical insight, and strategic direction to its next phase.

The Program

The Cell and Gene Therapy program is part of a comprehensive Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics, supported by a strong clinical and research infrastructure. The program has historically been highly successful and includes expertise in clinical care, laboratory science, and regulatory processes.

Defining clinical and programmatic scope and supporting regulatory and compliance processes

Building alignment across stakeholders and identifying opportunities for growth and innovation

Strengthening integration with clinical and laboratory teams

Candidate Profile

  • Board-certified/board-eligible MD, or MD/PhD
  • Experience in translational cell and gene therapy, immunotherapy, or related fields
  • Familiarity with clinical regulatory and compliance environments (FDA or equivalent)
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Interest in program development and academic medicine
