Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job types: Full-time and part-time
Location: In person at group homes and community-based locations throughout Dakota County, Minnesota

Opal Services, Inc. is seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals to support adults with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.

No previous direct-care experience is required. We provide comprehensive paid training, including medication administration, CPR, and First Aid training.

Responsibilities

Support individuals in participating in activities at home and in the community
Teach and encourage independent living skills
Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care as required by the individual
Prepare meals and assist with household responsibilities, including cooking and cleaning
Administer medications after completing required training
Complete accurate service documentation, charts, logs, and reports
Follow individual support plans, safety procedures, and company policies
Promote each persons dignity, choice, independence, and community involvement
Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or GED
Valid drivers license and driving record that meets company requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with supported individuals, coworkers, and supervisors
Ability to read, understand, and complete required documentation
Ability to successfully complete required training and applicable background-study requirements
Dependable, patient, respectful, and committed to person-centered support
