Role Overview


In this role, you will be at the forefront of New Product Introduction (NPI), responsible for launching and qualifying precision machined components. You will build, refine, and execute Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs while mapping out robust inspection strategies driven by complex drawings, CAD models, and rigorous aerospace/manufacturing specifications.

Collaborating daily with design engineers, machinists, and quality control teams, you will validate measurement systems, translate data into auditable quality documentation, and ensure every dimension meets design intent from first article through production.


Key Responsibilities

  • CMM Programming & Inspection: Develop, edit, and optimize CMM programs using PC-DMIS and MCOSMOS for precision machined components.
  • Strategy & Setup: Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, standards, and specifications to define inspection strategies; select and apply appropriate fixturing, tooling, and setups to ensure repeatable, accurate measurements.
  • System Validation: Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Gage R&R to validate all measurement equipment and methodologies.
  • Quality Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive quality documentation, including control plans, inspection plans, First Article Inspections (FAI), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages tailored to customer requirements.
  • Data & Conformance Review: Review and verify inspection and testing results against strict drawings and specifications, ensuring process control documentation aligns with contract obligations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with manufacturing engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to troubleshoot issues, resolve non-conformances, and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Workplace Standards: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety guidelines, and perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of CMM programming experience with a proven background in quality inspection and assurance within high-precision manufacturing. Previous experience as a Quality Engineer (or similar role) is required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), blueprint reading, and modern inspection methodologies.
  • Quality Standards: Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Data Analysis: Fluency with statistical software and methodologies, including Minitab and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Work Style: Self-directed, excellence-driven, and collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment and can drive initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
