The Digital Production Manager will have day-to-day responsibility for the digital printing department, including its people, equipment, workflow, productivity, quality, scheduling, and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on production leadership role. You'll manage the department, but you should also understand the equipment and processes well enough to work with operators, troubleshoot production problems, improve workflows, and keep work moving.

The plant produces a diverse mix of commercial print, including marketing materials, brochures, booklets, direct mail, personalized and variable-data work, short-run publications, and other high-quality digital products.

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the digital production department


• Lead, train, coach, and develop Digital Press Operators and production personnel


• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, workloads, and production priorities


• Ensure jobs are completed on time and to customer specifications


• Monitor productivity, quality, waste, downtime, and department performance


• Establish and maintain production standards and procedures


• Work with operators to troubleshoot equipment and print-quality problems


• Maintain high standards for color, registration, image quality, and consistency


• Coordinate preventative maintenance and equipment service


• Improve department workflow and overall equipment utilization


• Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements


• Work closely with Prepress, Customer Service, Scheduling, Bindery, Mailing, Quality, and Plant Management


• Help evaluate new equipment, software, automation, and production technology


• Maintain a safe, organized, efficient production environment


• Recruit, train, and develop employees as the department continues to grow

Candidates should have previous digital printing production leadership experience in a commercial printing, direct mail, transactional, or similar high-volume print environment.

Experience with production equipment such as:

The company is interested in people who understand more than a specific make or model of press. The right person will understand the entire digital production workflowfrom files and scheduling through printing, quality, finishing, and delivery.

Experience with variable-data printing, color management, digital front ends/RIPs, workflow automation, production scheduling, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement is valuable.

You may already be a Digital Production Manager, Digital Print Manager, Production Supervisor, Digital Department Manager, or Digital Operations Manager.

The company will also consider a strong Digital Lead or Lead Operator who has been training employees, coordinating workflow, troubleshooting production issues, and functioning as the go-to person in the departmentand is ready for an opportunity to officially move into management.
