Design & Research /Process Engineer

Must have:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Three or more years of hands-on Manufacturing and/or Process troubleshooting experience.
Position Summary: Manufacturing - Process Engineer and Design & Research Engineer designs, develops, implements, and continuously improves wire and cable products and manufacturing processes. This role partners with Production, Quality, Sales, and Materials teams to resolve technical issues, improve safety, quality, cost, and throughout, and deliver reliable solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, document, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for wire and cable products.

Provide hands-on support to production by troubleshooting equipment, material, quality, and process issues.

Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects and recurring problems.

Optimize extrusion, jacketing, taping, twinning, and cabling operations to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost.

Establish and maintain process parameters, work instructions, specifications, bills of material, and other controlled engineering documents.

Design standard and custom wire and cable products that meet customer, performance, dimensional, environmental, and manufacturing requirements.

Plan and support process trials, prototypes, equipment qualifications, new-product introductions, and production launches.

Analyze scrap, downtime, yield, capability, labor, material, and machine-time data to identify improvement and cost-reduction opportunities.

Research, evaluate, test, and qualify raw materials, alternate suppliers, equipment, and manufacturing technologies.

Ensure product designs and materials comply with applicable customer, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements, including RoHS, REACH, and WEEE.

Partner with Production, Quality, Sales, Purchasing, and Materials teams to resolve technical issues and confirm product feasibility.

Communicate with customers to clarify technical requirements, provide engineering guidance, and recommend practical solutions.

Prepare accurate engineering cost data to support quotations, pricing, inventory valuation, and business decisions.

Train operators and technical staff on new or revised processes, materials, equipment, and standard work.

Manage assigned engineering projects, maintain accurate records, and complete related duties as business needs require.

Skills and requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Three or more years of hands-on Manufacturing and/or Process troubleshooting experience.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work around production equipment.
Ability to work from ladders or elevated platforms when properly protected.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work inside or near electrical-control panels while following applicable safety procedures.
Ability to respond to equipment problems outside normal working hours when necessary.
Wages are dependent on experience.
