ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Great storyteller Data mining or extracting usable data from valuable data sources Using machine learning tools to select features, create and optimize classifiers Carrying out preprocessing of structured and unstructured data Enhancing data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems Processing, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis Analyzing large amounts of information to find patterns and solutions Developing prediction systems and machine learning algorithms Presenting results in a clear manner Propose solutions and strategies to tackle business challenges Collaborate with Business and IT teams Builds actionable data visualizations that identify areas of opportunity and help drive excellence at scale Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with several stakeholders across multiple organizations Be curious, creative, opinionated thinker with a talent for detecting patterns and elevating through strategy Ability to facilitate conversations with business owners and stakeholders to understand the problem, rapidly iterate proposed solutions, and clearly present new findings and solutions Embrace and drive a culture of data-driven, continuous improvement and help identify, analyze, and implement improvement opportunities Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department Follows all Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and private insurance regulations and requirements Results-oriented individual with a demonstrated commitment to do what it takes to get the job done Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards DESIRED OUTCOMES: Successfully mining, interpreting, and cleaning data to uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data's full potential Developing and optimizing machine learning classifiers and prediction systems Enhancing data collection procedures and ensuring the integrity of data used for analysis Collaborating with business and IT teams to propose solutions and strategies to tackle business challenges Facilitating conversations with business owners and stakeholders to understand problems and present new findings and solutions Demonstrating a commitment to getting the job done and achieving results POSITION REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field and 5+ years of data and analytics experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Programming skills in statistical languages such as R, Python, and database query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig; familiarity with Scala, Java, or C++ is a plus Strong applied statistical skills including statistical tests, distributions, regression, and maximum likelihood estimators Knowledge of machine learning methods such as k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, and Decision Forests Strong math skills including multivariable calculus and linear algebra Data wrangling proficiency Experience with data visualization tools such as matplotlib, ggplot, d3.js, Power BI, or Tableau Excellent communication skills Strong software engineering background Hands-on experience with data science tools Strong problem-solving ability Analytical mindset and strong business sense
